The natural world has always been an important element in my life. From childhood, my parents taught me to respect and seek the mysteries of the earth. I often find myself lost in wonder at the frothy curl in the break of a wave, the warm and cool light in a dappled forest or the compassion in the eyes of a wild creature.
My paintings seem to find a way out through dreams, seed ideas or a shadow that hides in the layers of paint I first cover my canvas with. Within the shades, tints, and tones that come from an uncommitted palette I look.
I try to capture a moment as if I may never see it again, sometimes I flip my canvas over to see if there is something that I did not see from a different perspective. It is a lot like watching clouds.
